Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioners often emphasize acupuncture, but TCM has developed many other treatments. . .
FACIAL ACUPUNCTURE
An extension of traditional acupuncture, microtrauma from the fine needles activates your body’s “repair mode.” It stimulates your circulatory and lymphatic systems to produce collagen, reduce fine lines, and promote a glowing complexion.
GUA SHA
Gua Sha is a form of Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) that uses a soft-edged, traditionally stone tool scraped over the skin to restore circulation in areas of pain and stagnation (including scar tissue or muscle "knots"). In my practice, I use Gua Sha to promote lymph flow, to relieve pain and emotional tension. The scraping motion helps to energize stagnant energy and promote healing. When used with other modalities, this technique can even help treat respiratory issues.
MOXIBUSTION
Moxibustion, or "Moxa," is a form of heat therapy in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The therapy uses the herb mugwort, which in burning it, heat gets send to specific acupuncture points. Chinese Medicine teaches that this heat promotes the free flow of qi and blood, which is essential to preventing pain and restoring balance in the body. We commonly use moxa to alleviate joint pain/swelling, regulate digestion, and more—such as when there is internal cold causing poor circulation and fluid metabolism.
CUPPING
A technique that uses suction to promote blood circulation. Cupping feels like massage, gently pulling the muscles and fascia upwards to draw toxins to the surface of the skin where the immune system is better able to eliminate them.
HERBAL FORMULATIONS
I incorporate organic essential oils into all of my treatments. I offer aromatherapy and apply oil on acupuncture points to ensure a healing experience that is unique to you. When applicable, personalized herbal formulas by prescription are available.
